Generation Of Electricity : Petrol and Diesel engine electrical generator.

Wind turbine, hydroelectric, thermal power plant are generate Kilo Volts of electricity. When comes to do maintenance in some ares, substation or building you can simply shut down electricity. Then many people will be trouble finding electricity. So in this case electrical generator are used to generate electricity. There two types of engine based generator. That are petrol and diesel engine. Now we look about these two engines produce electrical energy to power our home.

Petrol engine electrical generator

This engine based generator are used petrol to generate electrical energy. This generator can produce 240V only. This is because petrol engine only use for commercial and domestic use. Such as, use in stall at night, use during blackout and so on. This electrical energy is produce by alternator A.K.A a AC generator. This petrol engine generator is same as Car engine.  The picture below shown a simple chart of generating electrical generator.

Diesel engine electric generator

This engine based generator used diesel to generate electricity. This generator used for large ship like cruise ship, backup generator for hospital, airlines terminal, control center and so on. This generator produce huge amount of Kilo Volts that can supply power to a city. When diesel is refuel into the engine  and produce high speed torque to rotate the alternator. This will produce electrical energy. The higher the torque, the higher the current produce.

Similarities of Petrol and Diesel engine electrical generator

  • Both generate enough electricity to power home or an industry
  • Useful for emergency and backup when blackout happen.
  • Can use temporary for small business like stalls
Disadvantage of petrol and diesel engine electrical generator

  • Makes pollution result of unfilter smoke
  • It's depend on how much fuel need to burn for generate electricity
  • Heavy and high maintenance
  • High cost
