Faraday Cage

Lets imagine that you have a bird cage. It was a rainy day and suddenly lightning strike at your bird cage. What do you think about the bird? You probably think the bird is dead, but is not. Because the lightning strike the bird's cage not the bird,So the bird survive unless the bird didn't touch the cage or it will die. This cage is called Faraday Cage. Michael Faraday invented a cage that protect living things without get electric shock.
Michael Faraday demonstrate this cage by he sit inside this cage and give a electromagnetic pulse or electric arc. When the electromagnetic pulse conduct the cage and nothing happens to him. So this shows that Faraday are safe by insulating ourselves by wearing thick cloths. So let's look about how Faraday cage works.

When the faraday cage in normal state, the positive charge in left flows to negative charge to right. When a electromagnetic pulse or electric arc are give strike ti the cage, another charges are build inside the cage. So positive charge in right flows to negative charge in left. When this happen to these charges, both charges will cancel out each others. So whoever inside the cage will not harm.

Daily application of Faraday Cage

1). Faraday Suite

Faraday suite is used when a Lineman service high or low voltage at transmission lines, this suite will dissipate any leakage if the current contact with the suite. this will protect lineman without get shock.

2) Car Body
Your car body is an example of faraday cage. When a lightning strike to your car, the charges will grounded through your car body. So this will protect people who inside the car.

3) Building's Faraday cage

Now days tall buildings has lightning rod that defend the building from lighting strike. This will protect the building structure.

4) Electronic Shielding

Modern electronic components like microchips and Intergrade circuit are cover with metallic shielding. This will protects electronic by discharging electrostatic charges.

Don't worry about your bird inside the bird cage,it won't the electric shock unless the bird get fried by touching the cage.
