Generation Of Electricity : Wind Turbine


Wind turbine are the most efficient and renewable energy to generate electricity. This wind turbine is depend on wind,So it's free Carbon dioxide emission. Most country like China,United States of America,United Kingdom use wind turbine.This wind turbine will produce average electricity in 2.5-3 Mega Watt depends on the wind. Wind turbine turn kinetic energy into electrical energy. To know about this more,lets look about it.


The picture above shows about the parts of the wind turbine. This wind turbine have several parts to generate electricity. Although this parts are complex.but it's easy to understand. Before know how it's work,lets look the function of the parts of the wind turbine.

 Blades

These blade are the rotate the rotor int eh wind turbine. These blades are in aerofoil shaped as same as modern aircraft wing.

Low Speed Shaft :
-This low speed shaft produce some torque by rotor that send to gearbox.

Gear Box
-Gear box will increase the speed of the generator to produce lots amount of electricity.

 Generator :
-produce electricity by wind energy.

High Speed Shaft :
-The high speed shaft will rotate faster that low speed shaft. The torque is receive from low speed shaft.

Anemometer :
-An anemometer  is a device used for measuring wind speed.

Controller :
-checks the power output of the turbine several times per second.

 Yaw Motor and Yaw drive :
- Yaw drive always face directly into the wind to turn left and right in horizontally.

How wind turbine works 

When winds flows to the wind turbine,the blades will start to spin. This blade is get spin by the aerofoil shaped of the blade that will produce a lift to spin. While the blade spin,inside the wind turbine a rotor will turn the low speed shaft that direct connect to the gearbox. The wind not enough to produce high speed. if it's spin in low speed,the wind turbine will be useless. So the gearbox will turn the low speed into high speed. This high speed will turn the generator to produce electricity and then step up the voltage by transformer and send to the transmission line.

The wind direction is very important to the wind turbine. If the wind turbine fail to catch the wind,it will produce less amount of electricity. In order to catch the wind speed, Yaw drive is used to turn left and right to have enough speed.
