Electrical Isolator switch

Have you ever been heard about electrical isolator switch? Well just think about a ON and OFF switch that you see everywhere in your house. The electrical isolator switch behave like your house switch. But this isolator switch is big in size and very protective from chemical and mechanical accident. Confuse right?!!! Well let go through about this.

Electrical Isolater switch is a electrical application to switch ON and OFF circuit in place likely accident happen. So this switch is build i big sizes and strong material to width stand accidents. There are many types of electrical isolator. Lets look out.

1) Single phase Isolater

a)

 b)

This isolater is used for single phase unit like high horsepower air conditioner, air compressor and some heavy single phase electrical unit.

2) Three Phase Isolater

a)

b)

This three phase electrical isolator switch is used for heavy three phase electrical unit like heavy duty industrial machine. So this is the best way to use this isolator to turn ON and OFF safetly. The picture 'B' shown above is also a isolator called 'Rotary Isolator' Like a classic switch is isolator used to turn clockwise to ON and counter clockwise to turn OFF.

3) Isolating pole switch

This isolator switch is look like a MCB,but it is a great device to discconect single phase and three phase connection in safe way. This switch is determine by how many poles are in the switch. For example, A 3 pole isolator has three connection for three phase. A 4 pole isolator has 4 connection for three phase and neutral.

Electrical Isolator switch Wiring

The wiring for this electrical wiring is simple and easy to understand.

ON stage : The isolator connect together
OFF stage : The isolator disconnect together

Electromagnetism : Brushless Motor

We seen many DC motors in our life. One motor you can easily find in your computer's motherboard, electronic amplifier, and any other electronic appliance. That is Brushless motor. What is DC Brushless Motor? Well you are here to find out. let's check it out!!!

Brushless DC motor are the motor run with electromagnetism without commutator and brush. So this motor can run without friction with high efficiency.

Parts of Brushless Motor

1) Coil : Produce electromagnetic field.
2) Bearing : Reduce friction and run the motor smoothly
3) Magnet : Also know stator to produce magnetic field.
4) Hall sensor : used for switching, positioning, speed detection, and current sensing applications

how the brushless motor works?

Every brushless DC motor power by a electronic control unit to spin the motor. When the electronic control unit power the motor, it will energize the coils. the coil will produce electromagnetic field that will align with the permanent magnet. When there's too many coils are winded around the stator so the electronic control unit will energize the next coil to make spin the motor as soon it align with permanent magnet. Every time when the rotor spin according to the permanent magnet pole the next coil will energize to maintain the rotation.

Why brushless DC motor so efficient then brushed motor?

Brushless DC motor run without commutator and brush. So no friction,no sparks and no noise during operation of motor. This motor is less maintenance and low price. This kind of motor is used as coolant for computer, amplifier and so on.

Kilo Watt Hour Meter (kWh) and Main service connection

Every time when you get out or come home, you always see this meter and two black color box stay outside and you freaking out what the heck is that?!!! well you are here in the right place to know about these two main things that you get your electrical supply to your home.
The two pictures above shown is Kilo Watt Hour meter (kWh) and Main service connection.

The function of Kilo Watt Hour meter is to measure the amount of power usage per month. The Black color box is called 'Cut Out'. In this cut out has fuse with current rate of 63-100 Amps. This  fuse is stay in side the cut out housing and provide easy removable cut out housing to change fuse or the cut out itself. This cut out will disconnect whether any maintenance done outdoor electrical supply or fuse blown when over current happens.

We know the both function. Now we going to look at the wiring for both. This going to be easy to understand and the wiring is simple. Let's look it out.

The picture above shown is the wiring of single phase (LEFT) and three phase (RIGHT) of Kilo Watt Hour meter and main service connection. The both Kilo Watt Hour meter provide with numbers at the connection. When you closely look at the connection you will see one goes In and one goes out. The incoming will receive by cut out and flows to the meter and go out and flow to the distribution board to power electrical appliance. this will work for both phase. The only difference is the connection is not same as the both phase.

Now days Kilo Watt Hour meter is digital, but the connection is same as the analog. So don't confused.

Types of wiring : Underground cable wiring part 2

In previous post we generally learn about what is underground cable wiring and the advantage and disadvantage. Now we going to learn about installation of underground cable. Means we going to bury cables!!! Well not. We going o see how underground cable installation are done so let check it out.

We are going to use the same examples of underground wiring about street light so let get started
The picture below shown is the scale how underground cable are buried layer by layer.

WARNING :
ONLY A LICENSE AND COMPETENCE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR WILL DO THIS INSTALLATION. SO DON'T TRY TO DIG TO STEAL OR TOUCH WIRES

A electrical contractor will view this place for install under ground cable. Before start, the contractor will receive about the landscape for know any gas pipe and underground water pipe install. Then after know about the landscape now the contractor will start the  underground cable installation.

The worker will use a huge crane to dig sand to make a way to bury and install cable.

Now the workers will let the huge roll of cables know as 'DRUM' in dig part of the undergrounds.

The worker will bury the cables with a bit of sand and not fully bury.

Workers will put a sign plate on the sand. The sign note : CAUTION ELECTRIC CABLE BELOW.

The workers will bury all the sand in underground and finally the work is end. If the project done in road, the work will add tar on road to make it smooth.

Now the worker in other side will connected underground wires in feederpillar.

In other hand, a worker will done the wiring on street light.

NEXT TIME WHEN YOU DIG SOMEWHERE IN FIELD, ALWAYS BE AWARE!!! THERE'S CABLE BENEATH YOU.

How to bend 45°and 90° on conduit

Bending conduit isn't easy. it take long practice to make it precise angle to clear fit on surface and in accurate angle. So you need work hard and master it to bend it. Now let go through how to bend 45° and 90° on conduit.

Tools needed :

Roll pipe cutter
Conduit bender

In bending conduit, it's only have one method and you need to practice till you get the perfect angle.. So let's get started.

First step :
Take a conduit for bending. Conduit comes with different sizes. So choose 20CM or 25CM.

Second Step :

Cut the conduit pipe if it's so long for you to train. Use roll pipe cutter to cut the conduit pipe instantly than using saw.

Third Step :

Insert the conduit pipe into the conduit bender.
 Fourth step :
                         a) 45°

For 45° now push the lever downwards and bend the conduit. Some conduit bender comes with angle measurement. So use that angle scale to bend it perfectly.

                         b) 90°
For 90° angle you need to push further in so you can get a perfect 90° angle.

Last step :

Finally you get a perfect 45°and 90° angle.

WORK HARD AND KEEP PRACTISING MAKE YOU PERFECT. SO KEEP TRYING AND SURE YOU CAN DO IT BETTER.

Generation Of Electricity : Nuclear Power Plant

When we think about nuclear energy, OMG!!!! it's dangers and cause radiation. Of course if accident happen. An American scientist make an atomic bomb in Manhattan project to end the world war II. The first bomb hit the Hiroshima and after three days in Nagasaki. The war ends, but one of the world greatest scientist know about this atomic bomb will release enormous amount of energy by using the famous formula known E=MC2. He is the greatest scientist Albert Einstein.

By using his formula, scientist use this nuclear energy into electrical energy to power our homes. So how this enormous energy produce electricity? Well we going to know about it.

Based on the picture above we going to learn how nuclear energy is converted into electrical energy. First in the reactor vessel has radioactive material like uranium 236. This uranium is unstable radioactive material and make a chain reaction with another uranium. this chain reaction will split the atomic nuclei by neutron. This will produce huge amount of energy in the form of heat energy. The more the chain reaction, the more energy according to the formula E=MC2.

To much of heat can because disaster. So the control rods will decrease the chain reaction to stablize the heat. This heat will boils the water and produce steam. This steam will spin the turbine and rotate the generator to transformer then to the transmission line.

This is how nuclear power plant turn nuclear energy into electrical energy. This power plant can last long in thousand of years compare to other power plant. This is good for us to power our home for thousand years. If a nuclear disaster happen, the radioactive will spread by wind and dust and you will be effected by the radiation.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE NUCLEAR DISASTER, IT ALWAYS SAFE WHILE YOU HOUSE POWER BY NUCLEAR ENERGY

Electromagnetism : Changing rotation of DC Motor.

Changing the DC motor isn't difficult. You change the positive wire to negative terminal. and negative wire to positive terminal. The DC motor will rotate in counter clockwise direction. Easy right. So how to change the rotation for DC motor like series, shunt and compound motors? Well you are here to find out. So lets go through it.

There's two ways to change the rotation of basic DC motor :

1) Reverse the armature winding

In order to revers the armature winding, the connection of A1 and A2 to the supply must be interchange or connect opposite terminal. A1 is connected to the negative terminal and A2 is connected to the negative terminal.

2) Reverse the field winding

To reverse the filed winding, the connect of F1 negative terminal and connect F2 to positive terminal of the supply.

By reversing the armature winding or field winding, the interaction between magnetic field between stator and rotor will change the direction of the torque in the armature conductor.
This will effect the force on motor by flux. You can see how to change the rotation of these motors by refer the table below.
