When you open your home distribution board,you will see many flat,thin and small breaker. If any place in your house happen short circuit,this breaker will immediately trip or shut down the certain connected circuit. So this breaker is called Miniature Circuit Breaker. Lets look about this breaker.

MCB made of protective material that can easily detect if short circuit happen.In early days, fuse are used to protect the certain circuit because MCB aren't invented in those day. If the fuse broken, you need to find another new fuse. this is very inconvenient for consumer. So now days MCB are used. In MCB,if short circuit happen,you no need to change the MCB,because the fault will occur on the circuit.unless the MCB is broken,the breaker must replace new one.

MCB comes with various design and brand,but the function are same. They are 3 different class of MCB.

1. B class.

B class MCB are mainly used in residential applications or light commercial applications where connected loads are primarily lighting fixtures, domestic appliances with mainly resistive elements. The surge current levels in such cases are relatively low.

2. C class

C class MCB used in commercial or industrial type of applications where there could be chances of higher values of short circuit currents in the circuit.

3. D class

D class MCB are use in specialty industrial / commercial uses where current inrush can be very high. Examples include transformers or X-ray machines, large winding motors and so.

Every MCB in residential or industrial has current rating. Commonly 6A,16A,20A and 32A are used the most. Consumer can spot the current rating on the MCB description.
